Itinerary

Day 1. Delhi to Manali | Overnight Journey

  • In the evening, we will begin our journey from Delhi to Manali in a comfortable Volvo Bus(AC Semi Sleeper).
  • The overnight road journey takes us through Chandigarh, Bilaspur, and Mandi, offering smooth highways that gradually transition into mountain roads.
  • As we move closer to the Himalayas, we enjoy changing landscapes, cooler air, and scenic mountain views.
  • Overnight journey towards Manali.

Day 2. Manali Arrival | Manali Exploration

  • Upon arrival in Manali, we will check in to our designated hotels.
  • The rest of the day is at leisure, allowing travelers to relax after the overnight journey.
  • You may explore the lively streets of Manali, indulge in café hopping, shop for local handicrafts, or simply enjoy the riverside views.
  • Dinner will be served at the hotel in the evening.
  • Overnight stay in Manali.

Day 3. Manali to Purne via Gombo Rangzan Route (190 kms)

  • After breakfast, start the journey towards Zanskar Valley , crossing the iconic Atal Tunnel, Sissu, and Shinku La, which connects the Lahaul Valley to the Zanskar Valley in Ladakh.
  • We’ll travel through the remote and scenic Gombo Rangzan route. Gombo Rangzan is a sacred and rugged mountain range in Zanskar, famous for its raw landscapes and breathtaking Himalayan views.
  • Witness towering mountains, deep gorges, winding rivers, and untouched natural beauty along the way.
  • We will pass through small Himalayan villages, offering glimpses into the simple mountain lifestyle.
  • By evening, we will reach Purne, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in a cottage/homestay.

Highlight of the Day: Gombo Rangzan

Note: If we are not able to cover Gombo Rangzan on this day, we will cover it on Day 6.

Day 4. Purne to Padum via Phuktal Monastery (60 kms)

  • After breakfast, we will continue our journey deeper into Zanskar Valley.
  • En route, we will visit the iconic Phuktal Monastery, dramatically built into a cliff face and accessible via a short walk.
  • Explore the monastery and soak in panoramic views of the Lungnak Valley, one of the most scenic regions in Zanskar.
  • After spending time at the monastery, we will resume our drive towards Padum, the administrative center of Zanskar.
  • Arrival in Padum by evening, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.

Highlights of the Day: Phuktal Monastery, Padum, Lungnak Valley

Day 5. Padum Sightseeing – Karsha Monastery & Drang Drung Glacier

  • Start the day early with breakfast at the hotel.
  • Our first visit will be to Karcha Monastery, the largest and most important monastery in Zanskar, known for its ancient murals and hilltop setting.
  • Explore the monastery complex and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding valley.
  • Later, visit Padum Market and nearby villages to experience local life.
  • In the afternoon, we will drive towards the majestic Drang Drung Glacier, crossing the scenic Pensi La Pass, which connects Zanskar with Suru Valley.
  • Enjoy multiple photography stops with breathtaking Himalayan backdrops.
  • Return to Padum by evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6. Padum to Jispa (150 kms)

  • After an early breakfast, we will begin our return journey from Padum to Jispa.
  • Retrace the beautiful Zanskar route, known for its untouched landscapes and dramatic river valleys.
  • As we make our way back, we will navigate through Gumbok Rangzan and cross the Shinku La, which will enhance our journey and provide us with unique scenic views.
  • Enjoy uninterrupted views of rivers, towering mountains, and remote settlements along the way.
  • We aim to reach Jispa by evening, and if time permits, we will gather around a bonfire.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in Jispa in Swiss tents.

Highlight of the Day: Scenic Zanskar Valley Drive

Day 7. Jispa to Manali – Overnight Journey to Delhi (90 kms)

  • After breakfast, we will drive from Jispa to Manali, passing through changing mountain landscapes.
  • On our journey, we will pass through the iconic Atal Tunnel, one of the longest highway tunnels in the world. We will also visit Sissu, which is the first major village you encounter in the Lahaul Valley after exiting the North Portal of the tunnel.
  • Arrival in Manali by evening.
  • Later, board your overnight vehicle for the return journey from Manali to Delhi.

Day 8. Arrival in Delhi

  • Arrive in Delhi early in the morning.
  • The tour comes to an end with unforgettable memories of Zanskar Valley’s raw beauty, monasteries, and high-altitude adventures.

The journey begins with an overnight drive from Delhi to Manali, transitioning from plains to towering peaks. Crossing the iconic Atal Tunnel into Lahaul, you pass Sissu and reach Jispa for acclimatization.

From Jispa, the route heads deep into Zanskar via the dramatic Gombo Rangzan road, ending at Purne before continuing to Padum, the cultural heart of the valley.

Highlights include the breathtaking Drang Drung Glacier and Pensi La Pass, offering panoramic Himalayan views. The return drive retraces these stunning landscapes back to Manali and Delhi, leaving travelers with unforgettable memories of Zanskar’s untouched beauty and serenity.

 

Additional Information

  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, comfortable clothes and hiking or sports shoes.
  • The tour start at 9:30pm but the reporting time will be between 7pm
  • Sometimes due to excess snowfall the roads get blocked so in that case you can hire 4×4 cabs on the spot (not included)
  • A moderate amount of walking is involved at few attractions.
  • Regular Booking only includes Quad Sharing facility.

 

 

Cancellation Policy

  • No refund shall be made with respect to the initial bookingamount for any of the cancellations.
  • If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip,
    50% of the trip cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the trip,
    75% of the trip cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of
    the trip, 100% of the trip cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • In the case of unforeseen weather conditions or government
    restrictions, certain activities may be canceled and in such cases,
    the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity.
    However, no refund will be provided for the same.
Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ladakh is closed in the winter season, from March to November, the temperature in these months can go up to 7 degrees and minimum around -6 degrees. The weather is extremely cold during these months in Ladakh, the lakes freeze during these months but the passes such as Chang La and Khardung La are kept open for military needs.

  • Summer is the best time to visit Ladakh, specifically April to June are the best months for Ladakh because it offers pleasant weather with clear skies.   • The Zanskar River merges with the Indus River near Nimmu, which is a popular tourist spot. The confluence is especially scenic and is also the starting point for the famous Chadar Trek in winter when the Zanskar River freezes over.

  • Is Zanskar Valley worth visiting?

  • As of now, Indian citizens do not need a permit to visit Zanskar Valley. However, foreign nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to access certain areas in Ladakh, including parts of Zanskar. Always check the latest travel regulations before planning your trip.

  • Nun Kun is the most famous peak in the Zanskar region. It’s actually a twin-peaked massif located at an altitude of - the Nun peak (7,135 m) and the Kun peak (7,077 m), the highest in the Zanskar range. These snow-clad giants are a major attraction for mountaineers and trekkers
